Barbati

Barbati beach

The pebble beach at Barbati was, until recently best known as a favourite for the locals. It is a fairly small area and it is easy for visitors to get to the whole the village on their stay, and to try many of the various restaurants and bars which are to be found along the beach road.  The area got its name from the chieftain Barbati who led a group of Peloponnesian refugees from Nafplio and Monemvasia which arrived and settled on the northeast coast of Corfu in 1571.
